| For some quite frankly the venue of the year and for others it was just another night club with long waiting lines. It is no doubt that on Friday night you either knew someone to get you inside or you paid the "price" to avoid the hassles of one to two hour waits that did not guarantee entry. San Diego's newest addition to its extensive portfolio of night clubs has finally opened it doors to the 11,000 square foot Fluxx. Guest from San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas populated the entire building and looked with amazement on its decor and layout. This Vegas style night club mesmerized all its patrons as they eagerly waited in line to enter Fluxx. The line whipped around the corner but that did not matter because that was just part of the experience. From one corner you can see guest list lines, vip lines and at some doors you can see the infamous "$100 hand-shake" that always goes unnoticed. Even the beautiful and handsome had to wait their turn as pass-byres dropped jaws from the fashion and style that dressed the guest waiting in line. The night was electric and the music was hypnotizing. Nevertheless, the place was chaotic which is always a given when working with a new team and location. Dancing at Fluxx wasn't just another waltz. As the music pounded beats from its insane state of the art stereo system the crowd went hysterical as DJ Cobra began to play their favorite music, artist and remix. The DJ had a great view from the booth connecting with the crowd on the dance floor's some what oval shaped layout surrounded by both on-lookers and VIP tables. The VIP area provided unique and convenient access to the dance floor deservingly for VIP guest who paid top dollar to be up front and close with a respect to their privacy. No other night club in San Diego places a focus on the dance floor and its VIP areas the way Fluxx has introduced their concept. The architectural design smartly leaves the illusion of larger spaces from different vintage points and the final touches of the colorful array of lights and decor leave the subtle ambience of night life persona. Fluxx has done a fantastic job with aesthetics.
Getting a drink was a challenge in itself. With the ultimate being price. A traditional drink at the bar will cost you from $12 to $15 or more. The entry at the door was $20 - $30. Everyone paid a price to experience this new and trendy night club. You can expect prices to stay conservatively the same unless they introduce new ideas. Regardless of price you can expect this to be the new favorite spot most talked about in the Gaslamp.
As for customer service I've received many mixed feelings from the some what ten guest I contacted or that reached out to me. It is my personal opinion that anyone can experience bad service in any night club. For a place like Fluxx I take into account that its a new staff working together and chemistry must be established in the logistics of the night. The most negative feedback I did receive from Fridays opener is staff at the door. Guest list hostesses and security were not courteous or helpful. Hours of long waiting with bad staff attitudes can equal disaster for customer service points. Rest assure guest were lost as they walked away with negative feelings about the customer service and experience. Perhaps this is an opportunity for Fluxx's management to place a focus on the door which makes for the first impression. It will only be a matter of time that they find the right people for each position.
Overall, Fluxx had a successful opening as they race towards the goal of a return on their initial investment to build and market this new juggernaut of a night club.
